Scribe pricing explained
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Scribe pricing looks simple until you get to the seat minimums. There is a free plan, two paid tiers, and one detail that changes the real cost for a small business more than anything else on the page. Here is the whole thing, read from their pricing page on September 24, 2026.
I build a competing tool, so check the numbers against the link rather than taking mine. Prices move.
What are the plans?
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Seats | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Free | Free | From 1 | Web app only, no desktop app |
| Pro Personal | $35 per seat | $25 per seat | From 1 | The rate a solo operator or a pair actually pays |
| Pro Team | $17 per seat | $13 per seat | From 5 | The cheap headline rate, gated behind a 5-seat minimum |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Quoted | Sales-led |
Where does the free plan stop?
Basic is free and it works. The limit is that it is the web app only, with no desktop app. Any part of your work that happens outside a browser tab is not something the free tier can capture, and that includes desktop invoicing software, native apps and the file system. Scribe’s plan table also marks unlimited guide creation and every export format as Pro features.
What is the 5-seat minimum, and why does it matter?
This is the part worth understanding before you compare Scribe to anything else.
The low rate on the page is Pro Team, at $17 a seat monthly or $13 annual. It starts at five seats. So a business with three people has two options, and neither one is $13:
- Buy five Pro Team seats and use three. That is $85 a month monthly, or $65 a month on the annual commitment.
- Buy three Pro Personal seats at $35 each. That is $105 a month, or $75 on annual.
So the real entry price for a team of three is somewhere between $65 and $105 a month, depending on how you buy it. That is a reasonable price for a tool a team uses every day. It is a very different number from the one on the pricing page, and it is the number to budget against.
Is the annual commitment worth taking?
On their rates, annual takes Pro Personal from $35 to $25 a seat and Pro Team from $17 to $13. That is about 29 percent off the personal rate and 24 percent off the team rate (Scribe’s toggle rounds this to 20 percent), paid up front for twelve months. If you have already run a month and you know the tool fits how you work, the discount is real. If you are still deciding, the monthly rate buys you the option to stop.
How does Edessa compare on price?
Edessa is $5 a month for Founding Members, up to 3 teammates, held for the life of the subscription, and that price is capped at the first 100 workspaces. The Team plan is $99 a month for up to 10 teammates. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial.
Price only tells you part of it, because the plans capture different things. On Scribe, voice transcription and desktop capture come with Pro, so a team of three pays the $65 to $105 above to get them. Edessa includes voice and any-app screen capture on the $5 plan, then flags what your narration skipped.
Pick Scribe if
- Your work is click-only and inside a browser, so the seat math above is the whole decision.
- You have five or more people, which is where their cheaper rate actually starts.
- A free web-only tier is enough to get the guides you need written.
- You want the lighter tool, and lighter is better when it is enough.
Pick Edessa if
- You are two or three people, where Scribe’s seat minimum works against you.
- The task leaves the browser, and you want that captured without paying Pro seats.
- The reason behind a step matters as much as the step.
- You want the write-up to run inside the AI tools you already use.
Questions
Is the Scribe free plan enough?
For trying it out, yes. Basic is the web app only, with no desktop app, and Scribe’s own table lists unlimited guide creation and exports to PDF, HTML and Markdown as Pro features. So anything outside a browser tab, or any guide you want to export, needs Pro.
What does Scribe actually cost for a team of three?
This is where the headline rate misleads. Pro Team is the $17 monthly or $13 annual per-seat rate, but it starts at 5 seats. A business of three either buys five Pro Team seats, which is $85 a month monthly or $65 annual, or pays the Pro Personal rate of $35 a seat, which is $105 a month. Either way the real entry price for a team of three sits between $65 and $105 a month, not the $13 on the pricing page. Read from https://scribe.com/pricing on September 24, 2026.
Is annual billing worth it?
On their published rates the annual commitment takes Pro Personal from $35 to $25 a seat and Pro Team from $17 to $13. That is roughly a 29 percent and a 24 percent saving, paid up front for the year. Worth it if you already know the tool fits, and worth skipping for a first month.
What does Edessa cost by comparison?
Founding Member pricing is $5 a month for up to 3 teammates, held for the life of the subscription, capped at the first 100 workspaces. The Team plan is $99 a month for up to 10 teammates. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Edessa is also a different shape of tool, so price is not the only thing to compare; the head-to-head page covers the rest.
