Edessa vs Scribe

Edessa and Scribe both turn work you are already doing into written documentation, and they go about it differently. Scribe is built around click capture, in the browser on its free plan and in desktop apps on Pro, with voice transcription on Pro. Edessa records your screen and your voice in any app on every plan, and writes the workflow from both.

I built Edessa, so read this with that in mind. I have put the case for Scribe below in the same detail, because if your work is click-only in a browser then Scribe is the simpler tool and I would rather you knew.

On price, Scribe publishes its plans on their pricing page, and the seat minimum there is worth reading before you compare anything: the cheap per-seat rate starts at five seats. I walk through that math on a separate page. Edessa is $5 a month for Founding Members, up to 3 teammates, held for the life of the subscription and capped at the first 100 workspaces, or $99 a month for a team of up to 10.

Why does recording your voice matter?

The expensive knowledge in a small business is rarely the click path. It is the part that never gets written down: why this client gets a different invoice, what you check before the report goes out, the one field that breaks everything if you get it wrong.

Narrating while you work puts that in the document. It is also the reason the automation tags and the gap check are possible at all, since both come from what you said, not just what you clicked.

One person knows how to do it and everyone else asks them.
The reason behind a step matters as much as the step.
You want the result to run inside Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool.

The Scribe column is a real use case, not a straw man. A step recorder is lighter, and lighter is better when it is enough.

Which is better for a small team?

It depends on where your work happens. If the tasks you need written down run through a browser and the steps are the whole story, Scribe is the simpler tool and you should use it. If the tasks cross apps, or the valuable part is the judgment someone applies while doing them, Edessa captures more of the real job because it records what you say as well as what you click, on every plan.

Do I have to pick one?

No. Some teams will want Scribe for quick in-browser click guides and Edessa for the processes that matter enough to hand to a new person or to an AI tool.

What does Edessa cost?

Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial and you can cancel any time from billing settings. Founding Member pricing is $5 a month for up to 3 teammates, held for the life of the subscription, capped at the first 100 workspaces. The Team plan is $99 a month for up to 10 teammates. How long does it take to get one workflow written?

About as long as the task takes you once. You hit record, do the job, and stop. The write-up happens after you stop recording, so you can walk away while it runs.
